Last August, my friend and filmmaker Abid Chand asked me if he could use my home as a location for a film that he wanted to shoot. He told me he was participating in the Rotterdam edition of the 48 Hour Film Project, an annual competition in which local filmmakers have to write, shoot and edit a short film in two days. Abid didn’t know in advance what the theme or genre was going to be, but I guess he figured my humble pink abode would be versatile enough for most anything (let me tell you we both breathed a sigh of relief when we found out he wouldn’t have to shoot a Western). The result, called Krystle, was shown in an actual movie theater and I cannot tell you how exhilarating it was to see your own home on the big screen. It was totally weird and I loved it. The good news is that Krystle is on Vimeo now for the world to enjoy – here it is! Oh, and before you ask yourself what that dildo was doing lying about…IT WAS NOT MINE.
BTW, if you go to my Instagram and then choose the ‘Home’ category of my Stories, you can see Abid, lead actress Laura and me in the watching Krystle in the Lantaren Venster theater. Thanks again for the amazing, once in a lifetime experience, Abid!
