Hardcore antiquing at Anterieur Leiden

Take me to a good antiques store and I am a happy man. My friend Bianca knew this all too well when she took me along to Anterieur in her hometown of Leiden. On my own, I would have never found this shop myself. In fact, I think I would have walked right by its tiny storefront. Anterieur looks frightfully small when you first enter it, but don’t let that put you off. In the back of the shop, there is a hidden door to a corridor that takes you to another part of the store. And another, and another. We even crossed not one, but two courtyards to reach the end. But, oh boy…was it worth it! We even found a tiny kitchen that proved once again that the Dutch were probably Hobbit-sized in the Middle Ages. Anterieur may be a mess, but as far as Bianca and I were concerned, it was a lovely mess that was ours to explore. And even though we didn’t buy anything in the end, we did spend some time chatting with the owner – which is something I always do. I wish I could tell you something a bit more exciting, but all I can say is that it was a lovely December afternoon.
