Collectors Rdam 2024 - The Little Design Fair That Could!

The new Collectors Rdam proved to be a pleasant surprise - and I have the photos to prove it!

Collectors Rdam 2024 - The Little Design Fair That Could!

Wrong! Oh so wrong! That is what I was when I first saw the posters around town for Collectors Rdam, a new vintage design fair in my hometown of Rotterdam. I had some time left this weekend and so, I thought I'd buy a ticket and go there to check it out. To be honest, I did not have high expectations but lo and behold, Collectors Rdam was actually really good for considering its relatively compact size. In fact, it was so good that I went back a second time on Sunday afternoon. Imagine that! Here's what I saw.

The Onderzeebootloods (which means 'submarine shed') is located in one of the most remote corners of the port of Rotterdam - but that never stopped me!
DANG! This €26,000 coffee table by Victor Roman and matching lamp sure make for a great opening of Collectors Rdam. Both are available at Dang Ku by Koen Steen.
Well, if it isn't the Raak Cantarelle Floor Lamp "D-2015" by Maija Liisa Komulainen! I had to Google Lens that hihi.
All of the lights! Check out the Hoffmeister Leuchten hexagonal lamps, very chic!
I've reached the ripe old age of 55 and wonder more and more if I will be able to get out of chairs like this Verner Panton Relaxer 2 chair ten years from now.
Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night...this is my chance to show of that I studied English for exactly one year. Don't know much about animals though, because I just found out that this table is actually a leopard. Same difference, still cool!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness, Oscar Wilde once wrote. Did you know you can buy a replica of the Togo sofa on Ali? Such a pity! I have to say though that I appreciate that table trying to imitate a fried egg. Brava!
Ah yes, the Brumbury lamp. I've always preferred the orange version - but I wouldn't mind getting the white version as a gift either.
I don't know, I've never been much of a Space Age fan. But I have to admit this trio of Birillo lamps look quite nice together.
That Vistosi chandelier on the right is definitely going on the list of lamps I'd love for my new apartment.
More Space Age at Collectors Rdam. Again, normally not feeling this particular style but this particular floor lamp looks warm and tasteful.
Not one, but two Artifort F300 chairs upholstered in my all-time favourite joli laide color combo of magenta and orange.
Depending on the website you look at, this may or may not be a Maison Jansen floor lamp. Some dealers say it was made in the 1930's, others in the 1970's. And prices vary between €1,100 and €5,000. Hope that helps ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, well, well, looky here! The design of this Saturno sofa by Gastone Rinaldi is not necessarily my thing (hey, you cannot like everything!) but that fabric I LOVE. In fact, I love it so much, I wrote an article about it last year. It's called La Toile Du Peintre and it's by Pierry Frey.
I'm what you would call a 'recovering maximalist' and in my head I'm really trying to tone things down, but in my heart I'm not always there yet.
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink! This pair of the Wink chairs by Toshiyuki Kita for Cassina, Italy were reupholstered by the seller.
See You Next Tuesday!
Italian leather chairs from the Seventies with a Cesare Lacca serving trolley in the middle for your drinkypoos.
These two bamboo chairs plus matching table just SCREAM 'Golden Girls lanai'.
Life's a beach and then you die! But I'm sure you'll do so with a smile on your face if you had bought this Mario Lopez Torres palm tree lamp.
Moving deep into Hollywood Regency with these two serving trolleys. I don't know, Hollywood Regency feels like it's going out of style a bit, but I still love it. So sue me!
The gilt rope side you see in the back was made in the 70's by Li Puma in Florence. Can you imagine how downright classy that must have been?
These two faceted sofa's must be absolute shit to sit on, but who cares? They look stunning!
This bamboo screen would have been perfect for Blanche Devereaux' bedroom (sorry for the second Golden Girls reference in this blogpost).
Put this Armchair 004 by Antti & Vuokko Nurmesniemi from the 70's next to a beautiful antique rosewood commode and Bob's your uncle...the perfect start of a new living room.
